Exterior Features
The 2012 Nissan Murano is a 4-door crossover SUV that seats 5 passengers. It shares a platform with the Nissan Maxima, Altima, and Quest. The Murano is available in four trim levels—S, SV, SL, and LE—and in a convertible model, the CrossCabriolet. The base model employs 18-inch alloy wheels, with higher trims offering up to 20-inch wheels. A Sapphire Black exterior is available for the LE.

Interior Features
The Murano S trim features cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, some power accessories, and a 6-speaker sound system. The SV adds a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlights, roof rack rails, power front seats, Bluetooth capability, a rearview camera, and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The SL includes leather upholstery (with heated front seats and steering wheel), power liftgate, upgraded Bose sound system, and other enhancements. The LE adds bi-xenon headlights, heated rear seats, and wood interior trim.

The CrossCabriolet is available in a single trim that is basically an enhanced version of the LE, with tufted leather upholstery and a palette of unusual colors.

Optional Features
The Platinum Edition of the LE includes the Sapphire Black paint and a navigation system, the latter of which is optional on the SL and LE. A rear entertainment system is available on the upper trims, and some of the upper-trim upgrades are optional on lower trims. The CrossCabriolet is eligible for premium leather upholstery.

Under the Hood
The Nissan Murano's standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6 that works with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive optional. This engine produces 260 horsepower and 240 lb.-ft. of torque.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Nissan Murano are:
• With front-wheel drive: 18/24/20 mpg (city/highway/combined)
• With all-wheel drive: 18/23/20

Safety
Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, active front head restraints, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Durango ''Good'' ratings in frontal-offset and side-impact tests.
