Exterior Features
The Lincoln MKZ is an entry-level, midsize luxury sedanâan upscale version of the Ford Fusion, with which it shares a platform. The model is available with a conventional V-6 engine or a hybrid power plant. Both feature 17-inch wheels, keyless entry, rear-parking sensors, and fog lights.
Interior Features
The standard interior features leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, power accessories, including heated and ventilated 8-way power front seats and a 9-speaker sound system. With the V-6 engine, trunk space is 16.9 cu. ft.; with the hybrid power plant, the trunk capacity is 11.8 cu. ft.
Optional Features
The Sport Appearance package includes 18-inch polished alloy wheels, sport-tuned suspension, darker exterior trim, and interior touches that include contrasting seat piping. The Executive package upgrades the leather upholstery even further and adds real wood to the interior trim. In addition to a navigation system, the Navigation package includes a rearview camera, blind-spot warning system, and, on the hybrid trim, a surround sound system. The Ultimate package includes the Navigation package features plus chrome wheels, sunroof, adaptive xenon headlights, and more. Some of the package features are available as stand-alone options.
Under the Hood
The standard power plant is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control and delivers 263 horsepower. Front-wheel and all-wheel drive are available. The MKZ Hybrid features a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that works with an electric motor to deliver 191 horsepower. This combination works with a continuously variable transmission and front-wheel drive.

Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, traction control, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, and rear-parking sensors. In government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2012 Lincoln MKZ received 3 (out of 5) stars for frontal impact protection; 4 stars for side-impact protection; and 4 stars overall. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Lincoln MKZ received a ''Good'' ratingâthe Institute's highestâfor all crash protection.
