2012 Honda Accord Overview

Exterior Features
The 2012 Honda Accord is a midsize car offered in seven different trim levels. The Accord is sold in both 4-door sedan and 2-door coupe body styles. Sixteen-inch steel wheels are standard.

Interior Features
The 2012 Honda Accord offers seating for up to 5 passengers. Base Accords feature cloth upholstery, air conditioning, full power accessories, and a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel. Upgraded trim levels are fitted with such features as leather upholstery and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Optional Features
The Accord bundles most of the Optional Features
into the upper trim levels. These include leather upholstery, Bluetooth phone connectivity, power-operated front seats, a satellite-based navigation system, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Under the Hood
Honda Accords are fitted with one of three different engines. Base Accords feature a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 177 horsepower. That engine is slightly modified to produce 190 horsepower in upper trim levels. The optional engine is a 3.5-liter V-6 rated at 271 horsepower. The standard transmission is a 5-speed manual, with a 5-speed automatic optional. The 6-cylinder coupe is also offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. All 2012 Honda Accord models are front-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Honda Accord are:
  • Honda Accord with 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and manual transmission: 23/34 mpg (city/highway)
  • Honda Accord coupe with 3.5-liter V-6 engine and automatic transmission: 19/29 mpg (city/highway)

Safety
Standard safety features of note on the 2012 Honda Accord include side curtain air bags and active head restraints. In government crash tests, the 2012 Honda Accord received an overall rating of 5 (out of 5) stars, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Accord sedan received a ''Good'' rating—the Institute's highest—for frontal-offset and side-impact crash protection. Roof strength results from the Institute were "Acceptable."
